The Backlog:

Indianapolis is one of the cities where we are using public records requests to uncover the number of untested rape kits in police storage as part of The Accountability Project. In July 2015, USA Today reported that Indianapolis has 5,006 untested kits. The Indianapolis-Marion Country Forensic Services Agency also verified this number through correspondence with ENDTHEBACKLOG, and stated that these kits date back to 2000.
