It takes a tremendous amount of courage and fortitude to break one's silence and report a sexual assault or other intimate violence. Being further willing to undergo the evidence collection process is a truly fearless step. This step can set a complex system in motion that should promote healing, hold perpetrators accountable and ensure justice. Unfortunately, this system does not always run smoothly.
